Hi, I’m Scott! I am currently a 6th-grade math teacher in Santiago, Chile. This is my fourth year in Chile and my first time teaching abroad.
My first teaching experience was a three-year stint at PS/IS 87 Middle Village in Queens, NY. After all of the everything bagels and pizza a man could eat, I decided that it would be the perfect time to buy a house (without looking at it in person), find a job (Tuckahoe Middle School) and move to Richmond, Virginia to watch my newborn niece grow up.
In the 7 years I lived in VA, I was able to spend a ton of quality time with my brother, Sister-in-law, and two nieces, and made a number of life-long friendships. However, the travel bug was too great of an enticement, and on July 4, 2015, I flew from Richmond to Santiago, Chile to work/live.
Hola, mis amigos! I´m Kristen, an Early Childhood international teacher, food lover, adventurer, and travel enthusiast. Originally, Sheboygan, Wisconsin is my home… and yes, I do love cheese, bratwursts, beer, and the Green Bay Packers!
I graduated from UW-Stevens Point with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education. I am currently teaching First Grade in Santiago, Chile and have been here for three years.
This school year marks my seventh year of teaching internationally. Before arriving in Chile, I taught for two years at Brightsparks International Preschool in Munich, Germany and one year teaching English in Seoul, South Korea. I look forward to sharing my experiences of what an international teaching life has to offer!
